Ade Adepitan MBE

Adedoyin Olayiwola “Ade” Adepitan, MBE, is a disabled basketball player and television presenter. Born in Nigeria, Ade contracted polio at a young age, resulting in his use of a wheelchair. He came to the UK with his family at age 3, settling in East London. As a wheelchair basketball player, Ade was a member of the British team that won a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.

He is involved in several charities promoting access to sports for disabled people. In 2005, he became a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to disability sports.

Ade was listed on the Power list of the 100 most powerful Black Britons in 2020. He still works as a television presenter, fronting sports and travel programmes for the BBC and Channel 4.
