Seal

His full name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, but he is better known as Seal, the singer, songwriter and record producer. He was born in London in 1963 to Nigerian and African -Brazilian parents but raised by a foster family. He studied architecture before pursuing a career in music in the 1980s. His breakthrough came when he collaborated with the DJ and record producer, Adamski, releasing the single Killer, which shot to number one in the UK charts in 1990 and received an Ivor Novello Award.

Seal became known for his distinctive voice and fusion of soul, folk, pop, dance and rock music.  The success of Killer was followed by the release of his self-titled album Seal, widely praised by critics. The album won 3 prizes at the BRIT Awards in 1992 for Best British Male, Best British Video Killer, and Best British Album Seal. It also gained an Ivor Novello Award for the song Crazy. Seal repeated the hattrick of wins at the Grammy Awards with the release of his most celebrated song Kiss from A Rose. The song won Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 1996. The song featured on the Batman film soundtrack and formed part of his second self-titled album.  In total Seal has produced 10 albums, the most recent in 2017 being a collection of jazz standards.
