In collaboration with Oral History Society/National Life Stories at The British Library, London Metropolitan Archives, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and other institutions, ‘Home from Home’ delivered the following training programmes:
Oral History Research, Archiving and Documentation
17 volunteer researchers aged 18 – 35 were trained on oral history research and documentation by the Oral History Society/National Life Stories at The British Library. Participants had further training with London Metropolitan Archives on archival research and collection.
Video Recording and Editing Skills
3 young people gained hands-on experience on oral history video recording and editing skills, delivered by Rosetta Arts in collaboration with Eastside Community Heritage. The training programme provided participants skills to conduct the oral history recording of British-Nigerian Londoners.
Accessibility and Usability Training
In collaboration with the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People), 4 IROKO project staff participated in accessibility and usability training to gain knowledge and understanding of why common usability/accessibility issues occur and their impact on disabled people.
Quality Marked Certification
26 people aged 18 and above were trained on using oral storytelling performance techniques as vehicle for making heritage accessible to those who would normally not engage in it.
Participants received AIM Awards Quality Marked Certification in enhanced heritage skills.
