Chike Azuonye

Chike Azuonye is a British-Nigerian artist whose been active in the London art scene since the late 1980s. Chike’s works are remarkable for their depths of expression and thought, presenting a vibrant tapestry of colour, rich in symbolism. To Chike, art is an exploration of the deeper recesses of his inner personality, and a celebration of the symbolism of his African heritage. Chike has had many group and solo exhibitions over the years.

As a trained artist, Chike has worked in primary and secondary schools in London, facilitating workshops and organising excursions with pupils to the British and Horniman Museum in London. Chike worked with several local organisations notably, Iroko Theatre Company on their National Lottery Heritage Fund project “Speaking Without Voice,” which explored African symbolism.

Chike Azuonye is currently delivering African Heritage tours at the Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the British Museum in London. Chike is a co-founder and Vice President of Nigeria Art Society UK (NASUK), a collective of highly talented artists of Nigerian heritage in the diaspora.
