Dotun Adebayo MBE

Oludotun “Dotun” Adebayo MBE, is a British Nigerian radio presenter, writer, and publisher. Adebayo was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to join his parents in the UK at age six. In his youth, Adebayo joined the National Youth Theatre, appearing in Killing Time by Barrie Keeffe, and in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. He was chosen by Tennessee Williams to appear in, The Red Devil Battery Sign, acting opposite Pierce Brosnan.

Adebayo graduated from Essex University with a BA in Philosophy in 1987. Thereafter he joined The Voice as music editor. His articles have appeared in NME, The Guardian, The Independent, The Times and many more.

In 1993, he moved to radio and presented the Saturday night reggae show for BBC London as well as the popular Up All Night show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

He co- founded the publishing company X Press, producing fiction such as Baby Father and Victor Headley’s Yardie, the first black British best-seller in1992. He is responsible for the Nia imprint of literary fiction, including titles such as the best-seller Curvy Lovebox. Under the pen name Radio Dotun, Adebayo has published his ‘memoirs’ Effries’ in 2023.

In 2007, he launched Colourtelly, Britain’s first black internet television station. In 2020, Adebayo became a co-presenter of On The Continent as part of the Football Ramble Presents network. In 2009, Adebayo was awarded an MBE.
