Ekua Andrea Agha PhD

Ekua Andrea Agha PhD is a Nigerian academic. Dr Agha obtained her PhD in Francophone and Anglophone postcolonial studies from the Department of English, Theatre and Creative Writing at University of London’s Birkbeck College. Prior to that, she gained a Master’s degree in French and Francophone Studies from University of Westminster, London. Dr Agha also has a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PgCert Ed) from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent.

Dr Agha’s teaching interests traverse a number of fields including postcolonial studies, diaspora studies, film and cultural studies.  Dr Agha collaborates with researchers, academics, writers and artists in Africa, Europe, Asia, South and North America and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of French Research in Africa – IFRA, University of Ibadan and she is also an Associate Member of ACT- Africa Centre for Transregional Research, Albert-Ludwigs- Universität Freiburg (University of Freiburg, Germany).

In February 2018, Dr Agha and some research colleagues started the Nigerian Brazilian Public History Project, and she holds the position of Project Coordinator.

In this interview, Dr Agha gives us an insight into her interesting educational background and talks about the Nigerian Brazilian Public History Project and her interest in post-colonial studies and the works of Africa’s first filmmaker, Ousmane Sembene.
