Ola Awonubi

Ola Awonubi is a writer, born in London to Nigerian parents. She attended school in Brighton and lived in Nigeria before returning to Britian in 1992. An avid reader as a child, she pursued a career in writing and obtained MA in Creative Writing at the University of East London.

In 2008 her short story The Pink House, won first prize in the National Words of Colour competition. This was followed by The Go- slow Journey, which won first prize in the Wasafiri New Writing Prize 2009 and the Best Author CA Awards 2019.

Her short stories feature on blogs and journals and anthologies including African writing.com, Afreada, The Ake Review, Brittle Paper, Wasafiri Magazine.

Author of 8 books – including Love’s Persuasion, Love Me Unconditionally, an anthology of short stories – Naija Love Stories and Lovers, Leavers and Keepers was followed by her Christmas Novella – The Keresimesi Wish.

Her current historical novel ‘A Nurse’s Tale’ was published by One More Chapter Books; an imprint of Harper Collins in 2023.
