Oladipo Agboluaje is a British-Nigerian playwright. He is a winner of the Alfred Fagon Prize for Playwriting, a nominee for an Olivier Award and a Writers’ Guild Award. He was born in London but studied Theatre Arts at the University of Benin. He returned to London to complete a PhD in African Drama at the Open University.
His first play Early Morning was produced in 2003 at Oval House Theatre in London, followed by original plays, adaptations and radio plays. He taught creative writing and post-colonial theatre and literatures at London Metropolitan University, Florida State University – London Campus, Goldsmiths College, City University and University of Greenwich.
He has been a writer in residence at New Wolsey Theatre, Soho Theatre and the National Theatre. His plays have been performed in Nigeria, Ghana, France, Brazil and the United States.
Oladipo is a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund, Treasurer of the African Theatre Association (AfTA) and patron of Beeta Universal Arts Foundation, Nigeria. In 2018, Oladipo became a research fellow at the International Research Centre, Freie University.
